Mount Carmel College (MCC), Bangalore is a Christian minority college established by Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST) in the year 1948. The institution is a women’s college primarily focused on the empowerment of women. MCC offers multiple courses based on the current and future professional demand for women which are affiliated to Bangalore Central University,but the college attained autonomy status in the year 2005 and was one of the first colleges in Karnataka to be granted autonomy. MCC was selected by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the scheme ‘College with Potential for Excellence (CPE)’ in the year 2006.It was National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) re-accredited in the year 2012 and was recognized by the research center of IGNOU(2011),SIRO (Scientific and Industrial Research Organization) by DSIR (Department of Scientific and Industrial Research), Ministry of Science and Technology, GOI. MCC was ranked by India Today as one of the top three colleges in Karnataka in the fields of arts, science and commerce in 2008.
